On 15 March, the (MAPAMA Ministry of Agriculture and Fishing, Food and the Environment) opened a new call for Proyectos CLIMA. Proposals will be accepted until 15 May.The Proyectos CLIMA are an initiative of the MAPAMA through FES-CO2 (Carbon Fund for a Sustainable Economy). These projects aim to contribute to the deceleration of climate change through the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) in sectors that are not regulated by the Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) in Spain (the so-called diffuse sectors, such as residential, transport, agriculture, etc).Similarly, organisations can integrate this type of GHG reduction action in their annually reported carbon footprint. In the 2017 call the aim is to build on and propel programmatic initiatives that cover various projects under one umbrella. The term is now open for submitting proposals for projects to be launched before 31 January 2018. Otherwise, proposals must be submitted in later calls. AENOR is accredited to carry out any verifications required by this call , and is consolidated as a leader in emissions control mechanisms, contributing its experience and knowledge in the field. The institution has developed various certificates and verifications on this matter, and was the first Spanish organisation and the sixth in the world to be accredited by the UN as a Designated Operational Entity (DOE) within the Kyoto Protocol.
