Construction Products Regulation

2017-07-14

The European Commission has launched a procedure to assess the impact that a review of the Construction Products Regulation (CPR) would have. For this purpose, it has requested comments and opinions on the various stages proposed until 18 July, via the European Commission website.

The difficulties of effectively implementing the regulation and the problem area relating to referencing the harmonised standards in the Official Journal of the European Union, have lead the Commission to consider various revision options, which are put to public consultation.

The options range from maintaining the current situation, with no legislative amendments but with actions intended for greater flexibility and uniformity of the interpretation and application of the regulations; to repealing the CPR and returning to mechanisms of mutual recognition between countries. The intermediate option contemplates the possibility of reviewing the regulations at different levels of depth and a diverse portfolio of actions.
