Public enquiry into the EEEC

The period for public consultation on the Spanish Strategy on the Circular Economy (EEEC) has now ended and UNE emphasises that it shares and supports the direction and structure of said Strategy as it addresses the essential elements required to change the economic and production model.

The Spanish Association for Standardisation considers that the existence of internationally agreed standards in key areas for the circular economy will prove useful in order to transition from the linear economy model to the circular model in a practical way with assurance and using a recognised technical base.

UNE proposes following action plan:

-Promote the development of standards and ensure that Spanish entities participate in European ecodesign and circular economy standardisation initiatives.

-Promote the adoption and use of standards, specifically through their inclusion in public procurement.

-Promote the participation of public and private sector professionals in standardisation training programmes in order to make the best use of the opportunities that arise from developing a standardisation strategy within an organisation's general strategy.
